Video shows shocking moment gunman shoots a Kansas City cop in the face during routine traffic stop

A gunman shot a Kansas City Police officer in the face during a highway traffic stop before he sped off.

Omar Maria, 33, who was later apprehended during a standoff with police, shot Jacob Baldwin in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2014.

Disturbing dashcam video from Baldwin’s patrol vehicle has been released for the first time since Maria was sentenced to 100 years behind bars on Wednesday.

The footage shows him jumping out of the car and firing shots at the 39-year-old cop, who was alone, before speeding off in his Honda Accord.

Baldwin was able to call for back-up and is heard in the video screaming: “I’ve been hit!'” the Kansas City Star reported.

He survived the attack, telling the press that he was determined to live for his nine-year-old daughter.

Baldwin pulled Maria over for a license plate violation. Seconds later, the shooter jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire, shooting at leat six rounds while the cop was still in his car.

He shouted over his radio: “Shots fired! Shots fired! I’ve been hit.”

Pleasant Valley police officers arrived at the scene soon after.

Bullets pierced the victim’s chin and cheek.

Maria was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 100 year behind bars on Wednesday.
