Aaron Hernandez may have murdered his former friend Odin Lloyd to defend his most precious secret — that he was bisexual.

The former New England Patriots star reportedly had a longtime male lover, who was a high school friend and left behind a suicide note addressed to his gay prison lover.

The note was one of three discovered in Hernandez’s cell after he hanged himself on Wednesday — the other two were addressed to his fiancée and his 4-year-old daughter.

The 27-year-old was serving a life sentence without parole in a Massachusetts prison for the fatal shooting of his former pal, semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd in 2013, a murder that abruptly concluded Hernandez’s promising career less than a year into a $40 million extension on his contract.

Lloyd (above) may have known that Hernandez was carrying on an affair with a male friend who was forced to testify before the grand jury in the murder case

Officers have long alleged that Lloyd had compromising information on Hernandez that he didn’t want to get out.

Sources close to law enforcement told the Boston Globe just after his arrest that Hernandez was worried that Lloyd would rat him out in a double murder in 2012 — for which he was acquitted last week, only five days before he killed himself.

Prosecutors only hinted at trial that Lloyd had said something to Hernandez just before his slaying that destroyed his trust. A motive was never established, something his attorneys emphasized in their closing arguments.

However, multiple law-enforcement officials involved in the murder case now think that the ex-pal was aware of Hernandez’s bisexuality and the Patriots player was scared it would be made public, according to Newsweek.

In April 2015, Hernandez (above) was convicted for shooting and killing Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, on June 17, 2013

Lloyd “had information the star did not want out — that he was bisexual,” the magazine stated.

A co-defendant in Lloyd’s killing secretly confirmed to investigators that Lloyd knew Hernandez’s secret.

Co-defendant Ernest Wallace told police that Lloyd had tagged Aaron Hernandez as a “schmoocher,” or someone who is gay, before he was killed.

Hernandez’s reported longtime male lover was also interviewed by detectives after Lloyd’s killing and was forced to testify before a grand jury.

Aaron Hernandez transferred “a large amount of money” into his lover’s account shortly before he was arrested.

His prison boyfriend “is on 24/7 suicide watch,”

Hernandez was so determined to commit suicide that he stuck cardboard into the frame of his cell door to prevent guards from rushing to help him — and poured soap on the floor of his cell so he’d have no traction to struggle free if he lost his nerve.
