A Texas man has been taken into custody on murder charges in connection with his wife’s slaying after he reported her dead at their residence on Saturday.

Authorities discovered 35-year-old Sean Johnson, of Edgecliff Village, in the parking lot of Southcliff Baptist Church with his hands covered in blood after he called 911 to report that his wife, Michelle Johnson, was dead in their home.

Deputies recovered Michelle Johnson’s bullet-ridden body after entering the couple’s home through an unlocked back door.

Police said a possible murder weapon was also found at the residence.

Law enforcement officials said investigators are still working to determine a motive for the killing.

Chief Deputy Jerry Vennum said in a statement that authorities are not investigating any other suspects in the case.

Johnson remains in custody at the Tarrant County jail on a $250,000 bond and is facing murder charges, the Dallas Morning News reported.
