A New York City cab driver found several bricks of heroin inside of a suitcase left inside of his taxi police revealed on Monday.

NYPD officials said that the 63-year-old driver made the shocking discovery last Thursday.

A passenger had apparently forgotten the smack-filled suitcase in his taxi last Thursday.

The driver noticed something was left behind and reportedly pulled over on 34th Street and 11th Avenue, on Manhattan’s Westside, to inspect the contents of the luggage.

The New York Post reported when the cab driver opened the suitcase; he was shocked to find bricks of heroin inside.

“He opened the case and found it contained multiple sealed bags of heroin, eight bricks of the drug,” an NYPD spokesman said.

The driver took the dope to the 10th Precinct Station House and handed to police officers, who have launched an investigation.

Heroin use has remained a widespread problem in New York City.

Over the past three years, the Big Apple has experienced a 137% increase in opioid overdose, which is one of the largest in the country.

In 2015, federal authorities seized a record amount of heroin in New York City, which accounted for almost one-third of all of the drugs recovered during interdiction operations nationwide.
