A Mexican news outlet released a video on Tuesday showing a wild alcohol-fueled party at a maximum security prison thrown by a powerful cartel boss in the western state of Jalisco.

The narco-party was held at the Puente Grande prison, which has housed some of Mexico’s most notorious drug lords, most notably former Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, who escaped from the facility in 2001 with the help of prison officials.

The host of the party was 48-year-old Jose Luis Gutierrez Valencia, better known as “Don Chelo,” and “Glass Eye.” He is a ranking member of the ruthless Jalisco New Generation Cartel who reportedly runs the entire detention center on behalf of the criminal organization.

“Don Chelo” is currently awaiting trial on drug trafficking and weapons offenses.

Additionally, Valencia’s daughter is the girlfriend of Rubén Oseguera, the son of the New Generation boss Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as “El Mencho.”

Mexican media outlet Milenio aired the audacious video of the celebration, whcih reportedly took place in the early part of 2016.

According to the publication, Valencia was arrested in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, in 2010 in possession of a mini-arsenal — including a grenade launcher, AK47 assault rifles, six pistols and a significant amount of cocaine.

The video has since gone viral in Mexico, which prompted many sarcastic comments on social media and raising more questions about the government’s commitment to clampdown on organized crime.

The cartel boss also provided music by Los Buchones de Culiacan, a popular narcocorrido band known for ballads about Mexico’s violent cartel culture.

“I’m the one who gives orders here. ask for whatever you want; I’ll give it to you,” Don Chelo boasts in the video.

“Up with Criminality!” another inmate yells into a microphone.

“Long live Jalisco New Generation!” comes another cry, celebrating one of Mexico’s most violent drug cartels.

The video prompted one person to question on Milenio’s website: “Can it not be more clear that [authorities] are linked to the narcos and that the arrests are a farce?”

Th embarrassing footage has left officials red-faced and highlighted the systematic corruption plaguing all levels of government.

The video also forced Jalisco State Attorney General Eduardo Almaguer to hold a press conference and confirm the authenticity of the footage.

However, Almaguer maintained the booze filled cartel-fest occurred in 2013 as a part of a father’s day celebration with the permission of the former prison warden, who had his position terminated for “various irregularities.”

Almaguer also mentioned that the party occurred before he became the state’s top prosecutor.

Despite the attorney general’s assertions, he said authorities had initiated an investigation into the party and the participation of Los Buchones de Culiacan.

Representatives of Los Buchones de Culiacan, which is based in Los Angeles, refused to comment.
