Oregon man walks into grocery store holding severed head, stabs employee: Police

Oregon Police say a knife-wielding man reportedly walked into a grocery store covered in blood holding a woman’s severed head on Sunday.

According to KATU-TV, the man pulled up in front of the Harvest Market Thriftway in Estacada, Oregon, left his vehicle running, before entering the store and stabbing an employee around 2:30 p.m.

The employee’s co-workers wrestled the attacker to the ground and held him until police arrived.

Emergency responders airlifted the victim to a Portland hospital about 25 miles northwest of Estacada, where he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses reportedly saw the suspect carrying what appeared to be severed head before the assault occurred.

Police confirmed that a woman found dead at a rural homearound 3 p.m. in the town of Colton, located 20 miles south ofEstacada was, the suspect’s first victim.

It remains unclear when or how the woman, was killed. Police hadn’t released the identities of the suspect and victims.

Police arrested the man who was transported to a local area hospital where he underwent a mental evaluation.

Kristin Courtain, who witnessed the events unfold told KOIN-TV that panicked shoppers caused a traffic jam while rushing to flee the store’s parking lot.

“I hope this person, the suspect, gets the help, honest to God, the help he needs,” Coutain told the TV station.
