Authorities in Mexico have confirmed the capture of a top assassin for young cartel capo Damaso Lopez Serrano, “El Mini Lic,” during a raid in the state of Sinaloa on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office said a raid on a home in the town of El Dorado, near Culiacan, resulted in the arrest of Sinaloa Cartel lieutenant Pedro Alfonso Domínguez Moreno, alias “El Moreno 14,” along with four other reputed operatives.

According to Proceso, Domínguez Moreno led a group of assassins known as the “Fuerzas Especiales de Dámaso” or “Special Forces, Los Damaso.”

Furthermore, “El Moreno 14” oversaw criminal operations from El Dorado on behalf of Lopez Serrano, a 31-year-old next generation narco-trafficker who has risen to leadership in the Sinaloa Cartel along with Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, the children of “El Chapo.”

Officials said Domínguez Moreno also directed a surveillance network composed of “hawks” or lookouts who reported on the presence of security forces and members of rival groups in the area.

During the operation, authorities said that “El Moreno” was arrested in possession of several high-powered weapons and a 9mm pistol engraved with the initials “FED,” which according to officials, is an abbreviation for the “Special Forces of Damaso.”

Agents also seized military-grade weapons, three vehicles, two kilos of crystalized methamphetamine, 250 grams of cocaine, two digital scales, and significant amounts of cash.

Officers also rescued a 66-year-old man, identified as “Hilario,” who was kidnapped in April by gunmen and held for a two million dollar ransom.

The town of El Dorado is considered the stronghold of “El Mini Lic’s” father, Damaso Lopez Nunez also known as “El Licenciado,” the powerful boss of the Sinaloa Cartel faction known as Los Damaso and presumed successor to Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman.

Federal forces recent capture of Lopez Nunez near Mexico City on May 2nd garnered worldwide headlines, who at the time, was in the midst of an internal struggle with the children of El Chapo for the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Mexican and U.S. law enforcement officials believe the leadership of the cartel faction has since passed down to his son, who is also the reported godson of El Chapo.
