A purported assassination plot at a Comic Con event isn’t going to prevent former Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank from living his life.

Matthew Sterling, 29, reportedly targeted the actor. The suspect was carrying four firearms, ammunition, and a knife while wearing body armor at the Comic Con in Phoenix on Thursday.

Sterling had a calendar notice on his phone saying “Kill JDF” that police believe represented the actor’s initials, according to court documents obtained by ABC15.

Authorities also believe Sterling may be mentally disturbed. He told officers that he “was the Punisher,” a Marvel comic character that fights crime.

Officials implemented extra security at the event and banned prop weapons.

Frank was not injured and spoke out about the incident at a news conference where he thanked the police for protecting him.

“I’m grateful for the Phoenix police department for their brave and outstanding efforts which avoided a tragedy as seen at the concert in Manchester,” Frank stated.

The actor added that he doesn’t know who the suspect is but will “pray for him.”

Frank posted a picture on Facebook Sunday posing with two Phoenix officers and Punisher actor Jon Bernthal.

Sterling has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest, among others. His next court date is set for June.
