Authorities in Texas say a shootout at a convenience store in the border city of Laredo resulted in three police officers wounded and the death of a murder suspect on Friday.

In a statement, police spokesman Detective Joe Baeza said officers had conducted a search all day Friday for 55-year-old Antonio Geraldo Rodriguez, who is suspected in the fatal shooting death of his girlfriend, 50-year-old Reyna Gonzalez Zamora.

According to Baeza, around 5 p.m. three police officers spotted a car outside a convenience store matching the description of a vehicle driven by Rodriguez.
