A video shows the heart-wrenching moment a kindergarten teacher did her best to calm her terrified students as cartel gunmen and police officers took part in a series of gun battles in the border city of Reynosa.

At least six people were executed during the most recent round of violence, which has cast fear and terror throughout the city as battles between rival Gulf Cartel factions for control of drug routes continue to engulf the area.

Two rival groups have been battling for control of Reynosa. The violence has resulted in at least 50 people murdered over the last 33 days, including a law enforcement officer and an innocent bystander.

On Friday, rival groups of the Gulf Cartel continued fighting throughout the city. One of the violent clashes occurred near a school where young children were forced to hide under their desks to avoid being hit by a stray bullet.

A video recorded inside one of the classrooms showed the moment when a kindergarten teacher tries to calm her terrified students.

“There’s a situation of risk so we have to get down,” the unknown teacher is heard saying in Spanish. “Everyone, remain calm, nothing is going to happen. I am here with you all … Keep your little heads covered.”

The teacher proceeds to calm the children while singing songs. Violent cartel fights occurred throughout the city as rival cartel gunmen fought each other while police tried to arrest them.
