A heroic neighbor in Oklahoma shot and killed a madman with a knife who was attempting to drown own his three-month-old twins.

Cash Freeman opened fire two times at 27-year-old Leland Michael Foster on Friday in Ada, Oklahoma, killing Foster while he was holding his kids’ mother at bay with a knife while also trying to drown the twins in the bathtub.

The twins, a boy and a girl who were premature at birth, have been treated at the hospital and were released.

The terrible incident occurred at roughly 12:30 pm on Friday when a distraught woman called 911, KFOR reported.

She said the father of her three-month-old babies had a knife and was trying to submerge the infants in the bathtub.

The woman added that the man had threatened to kill her, while dispatchers could hear fights and shouting over the phone.

Authorities rushed to the scene, but before they could get there, the homeowner’s 12-year-old granddaughter ran to the neighbor’s house and begged for help.

Cash Freeman, the neighbor, grabbed his revolver and raced to help.

When he went to the neighbor’s home, he discovered Foster holding the infants’ mother at bay with a knife while trying to drown the babies.

Freeman shot two times and killed Foster.

He was questioned and released by police at the scene, but prosecutors will examine the circumstances to assure that the shooting was warranted.

Police verified that Foster was the father of the children.

The infants were airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital, and they were released on Saturday.

“It’s awful because I’ve held the babies, I’ve played with them, and I just gave them clothes yesterday,” Summer Pierce, another neighbor, told KFOR.

Foster has prior charges for arson and domestic abuse by strangulation, court records indicated.
