DEA raids results in six Cruces Boys gang members arrested on federal drug trafficking charges in New Mexico

Federal and state law enforcement officials say six members and associates of the so-called Cruces Boys gang, in New Mexico were indicted on drug trafficking charges on Thursday.

Officials said a DEA-led operation resulted in the arrests of five of the defendants in Las Cruces and a sixth suspect in the city of Farmington during a series of raids on Thursday, KVIA reported.

Authorities also seized over 25 firearms during the operation.

The “Cruces Boys” gang members arrested in the sweep, are identified as: Rahiem Harris, 35; Joshua Randall Garcia, 29; Joshua Randall Garcia, 29; Estevan Carreon, 23; Olajuwan Calhoun, 29: Nate Nordorf, 29; and Jalen Bishop, 21.

The six detained each face one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Court records indicate the co-conspirators allegedly oversaw a cocaine and crack-cocaine distribution ring in the Las Cruces area for the past year.

According to federal prosecutors,  if convicted nearly all of the suspects are facing up to 20 years in federal prison.

DEA officials said the six defendants would remain in federal custody pending their initial court appearances.
