Authorities in Eureka responded to a report of gunshots on Wednesday and discovered a man who had been hit in the hand with a shotgun shell packed with Rice Krispies, according to KCRTV.

Police later discovered the weapon was a flare gun.

Investigators said they were told that the assailant was 29-year-old Timothy Glass Jr. and that he had left the scene on a bike.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Shortly after, Glass was detained at a homeless camp.

“Glass resisted apprehension causing minor injury to a detective,” officials indicated said in news release.

The victim was contacted and positively identified Glass as the shooter.

However, the victim said he did not wish to press charges.

Nonetheless, Glass was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and was charged with resisting arrest and violating his probation.
