A leaked report from the El Paso Sector Intelligence and Operations Center indicates that the wounded off-duty Border Patrol agent who was found on the side of a road on June 9th is believed to have been kidnapped before sustaining severe injuries.

According to Breitbart Texas, which obtained the document from a source, the report indicates that a Border Patrol agent was abducted and assaulted.

Officials said the FBI in El Paso, Texas, is heading the investigation and warns law enforcement agents, stating “Agents are advised to remain vigilant and maintain a heightened level of awareness.”

A statement issued by the CBP said:

“Customs and Border Protection is assisting in the investigation of an assault against a Border Patrol agent assigned to the Deming, New Mexico Station. The agent was discovered on the side of the road by a motorist at 11 p.m. The agent suffered serious injuries to his head, chest, and hands. Emergency Medical Services transported the agent to a hospital where he is being treated for his wounds. The agent is in stable condition. CBP is working with the FBI, Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, and the El Paso Police on the investigation. CBP has reminded its personnel to be alert and aware of their surroundings and potential threats related to their service.”
