Texas police officials say officers somehow managed to overlook a loaded firearm that was inside of a DWI suspect’s bra during a search at an Austin jail.

Authorities in Austin revealed that an investigation is continuing into how the DWI suspect managed to conceal a loaded gun got past officers during an arrest on May 29th.

“We have training and protocols to address the techniques of frisking and searching suspects,” Austin’s interim police chief, Brian Manley, said, “The dangers posed by a weapon on a suspect cannot be overstated.”

According to the Austin American-Statesman, a corrections officer at the Travis County Jail discovered the handgun during a search of the woman, whose identity has not been revealed. The gun was given to arresting officers and jail employees informed police in Austin as part of their response, a spokesperson for the sheriff said.

The incident occurred roughly five months after a 19-year-old suspect, who was arrested for shoplifting at a mall, used a gun that somehow got past arresting officers to commit suicide in the back of a patrol vehicle. An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
