An innocent bystander and at least four armed cartel gunmen were killed this week in the latest wave of drug-related violence in the border city of Reynosa as police forces arrested 10 Gulf Cartel members in ongoing operations.

Rival factions of the Gulf Cartel have been battling for control of profitable drug trafficking and human smuggling routes.

The fighting between the rivals has resulted in over 50 casualties due to near daily rounds of violence within the past month.

Mexican federal forces have increased their efforts in targeting the Gulf cartel’s criminal operations throughout the city.

In the most recent incident, Mexican authorities killed a gunman and arrested ten others after a firefight at a local party place, Breitbart Texas reported.

The gun battle erupted on Wednesday just after 1 p.m. after Mexican authorities were dispatched after receiving an anonymous tip about gunmen meeting at the Quinta Blayser section of Reynosa.

Authorities killed three operatives in the skirmish. However, an innocent bystander was also caught in the crossfire.
