Tourist streams intense shootout on Facebook Live in Myrtle Beach

Seven individuals have been wounded after a terrifying shooting in South Carolina that was recorded on Facebook Live.

Authorities in Myrtle Beach revealed that the shootout transpired Sunday at approximately 12:30 am.

Police said that a fight erupted among a crowd after which the suspect drew a gun and opened fire. Some individuals were shot and were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

The video had over 2.6million views and was shared over 70,000 times, according to to the Daily Mail.

Lieutenant Joey Crosby indicated that police officers were dispatched around 12:25 am because of a large crowd that had gathered, stopping traffic.

Before police arrived, a fight erupted among three members of the group. The Facebook Live video showed a man in a T-shirt and jeans, who pulled out a firearm and started shooting.

In the footage, which was recorded by Bubba Hinson, who appears to be on a balcony at a hotel, over a dozen shots are heard.

Lieutenant Crosby indicated that an armed officer saw the incident and shot the man. The suspect then shot numerous rounds and fled the scene by stealing a car.

Law enforcement officials recovered the stolen car and have identified and arrested a suspect in the case. His identity remains unknown until he is cleared medically and warrants are executed.

The security officer sustained a graze wound to the leg, but his injury did not require him to be hospitalized. He was given medical attention at the scene.

The shots hit a patrol vehicle, but no cops were hurt.

“Social media puts this word out quickly,” Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes said. “It does not look good for Myrtle Beach.”

It was the third shooting in the area within eight hours, with a gunshot victim discovered at Coastal Grand Mall at approximately 4:30 pm Saturday and a report of shots at the Crown Reef Resort 10 minutes later.
