The constant fuel theft in Mexico continues to be a lucrative criminal enterprise perpetrated by the drug cartels.

This dangerous criminal activity poses a grave danger to public safety as the tankers and trucks they utilize to transport gas continue to explode taking homes, cars, and innocent victims with them.

The rampant fuel theft resulted in sixteen 16 families losing their homes last week after a fleeing truck with containers of stolen gas crashed into cars, igniting a massive explosion that consumed multiple cars and houses in the city of Rio Bravo.

Firefighters and police managed to successfully evacuate residents from the area resulting in only a few victims sustaining minor injuries, Breitbart Texas.

The government-owned Petroleos Mexicanos or Pemex controls Mexico’s oil industry and fuel production. Drug Cartels tap into the fuel lines to steal fuel by the tanker-full.

Through their extensive chain of corrupt officials, the Gulf Cartel manages to steal fuel from Pemex lines that run through multiple border cities including Rio Bravo, Progreso, Matamoros, and Reynosa.

Cartel operatives then sell the fuel on the black market or by the gallon on the streets of Reynosa by low-ranking members referred to as huachicoleros.

Despite constant seizures by law enforcement and military agencies, Mexican authorities have failed to quell the profitable racket.
