Law enforcement officials in Arkansas announced on Sunday that they had captured escaped inmate Steven Dishman who had broken out of prison over three decades ago.

Authorities said the now 60-year-old Dishman was apprehended at a residence in Springdale, in the northwestern part of Arkansas.

Steven Dishman broke out of the Cummins Unit in Lincoln County in May 1985 while serving a 7-year sentence for theft and burglary convictions.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette indicated that Dishman was sentenced in December 1984 and would have been eligible for parole in 1987.

The escaped fugitive was arrested by local police and state troopers. However, details of what led authorities to apprehend Dishman have not yet been released.

A spokesperson for the corrections department told Fox 16 that Dishman will be ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence. Prosecutors will determine whether to take further criminal action against him for the escape.
