Authorities in Los Angeles are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was caught on camera allegedly kidnapping a woman in Sylmar.

Video footage of the incident shows the suspect and the female victim fighting just moments before he grabbed her hair and forced her into a Chrysler minivan parked on the curb.

The woman attempted to flee but was pushed back into the car before the man drove off with the victim inside.

Police in Los Angeles said they were informed of the kidnapping on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. and immediately launched an investigation.

Officers are asking for the public’s help in naming the pair. The female was described as Hispanic with long black hair, between 25 and 35 years old. The alleged suspect is roughly 250 pounds and around 30 years old, according to the The New York Daily News.

LAPD officials said the suspect is seen wearing in the video a backward baseball cap.

Investigators said that the suspect and the victim appear to know each other. However, a motive for the kidnapping has not yet been determined, The Daily News reported.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the kidnapping to reach out to the LAPD’s Mission Division station at (818) 838-9800.
