Police in Mexico seized multiple packages of dynamite belonging to a faction of the Los Zetas drug cartel that works in the state of Tamaulipas. In addition to the explosives, authorities also confiscated body armor and over a ton of marijuana in the city of Mante.

Authorities discovered the dynamite at a stash house in the city of Mante, an area controlled by the Vieja Escuela Z group of the Los Zetas. The area is located 282 miles south of the Texas border in a territory often utilized by drug cartels.

According to Breitbart Texas, the stash house was located in the Las Brisas neighborhood. The house was owned by recently killed Vieja Escuela boss Francisco “Tom Cabezon” Garcia. Garcia was recently killed during a prison “fight” in prison in Nuevo Laredo.

Police officers raided the house and found five packages of dynamite sticks, six black bags with 2,204 pounds of marijuana, ten tactical vests with body armor, as well as ammunition for AK-47 type rifles (Photo Breitbart Texas)

Authorities reported that multiple law enforcement agencies carried out a surveillance investigation and saw a man acting suspiciously. Officials also noticed the man with weapons and followed him to a residence where he went inside.

Officers raided the home and discovered five packages of dynamite sticks, six bags with 2,204 pounds of weed, ten tactical vests with body armor, along with ammunition for AK-47 rifles.

The seizure occurred roughly 96 hours after the murder of Francisco “Tom Cabezon” Garcia inside of the prison. The detention facility is run by the Cartel Del Noreste group of the Los Zetas, a rival faction that has been at battle with Vieja Escuela Z.

Garcia gained control of the Los Zetas in Ciudad Mante in April, just after the killing of the previous head Francisco “Pancho” Carreon. Carreon was in charge of the central part of Tamaulipas and numerous areas in the state of San Luis Potosi.

Alleged members of the Cartel Del Noreste took responsibility for Garcia’s killing. They warned about future violence coming from information that they had received through Garcia’s torture.
