A deputy district attorney in Orange County, California fell victim to a brutal gang attack in a purported effort to prevent her from presenting closing arguments in a gang-related murder trial.

Sources said the bloodied and beaten deputy district attorney whose name has not been released, stumbled into the Newport Workout gym on Thursday. A trainer inside the gym came to assist her.

“It looked as if a bucket of red paint was poured over her and every part of her face and shirt was red,” Ron Cary, a trainer, said to Fox 11, adding that he originally thought the woman fell while out for a jog.

Blood stains and a bloody hand print left behind by the attacked woman

“One trainer yelled, ‘Call the police.’ She didn’t run and fall, she was attacked,” Cary stated. “I overheard her saying she works for the DA or is the DA of San Bernardino and she’s in a trial or acting for the murder trial.”

San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Christopher Lee verified the following to Fox 11: “A member of our office was involved in an incident that is under investigation.”

A law enforcement source told MynewsLA that the woman, who was about to present closing arguments in a gang-related murder case, may have been targeted by gang associates and revealed that she’s been followed before.

After the attack, the victim entered the Newport Workout gym pleading for help

“I heard things like, ‘Was I raped?,’ ‘I was unconscious. I don’t know how long,’ ‘Are they here?’ ‘Are they coming?’ Still a little scatterbrained,” Cary said.

He added: “We turned and saw a woman who could barely walk covered in blood.”

Newport Beach police revealed that the woman was not sexually assaulted or robbed.

The victim doesn’t remember anything about her attackers.
