The suspected shooter who gunned down 50 people at a Las Vegas concert in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock from Mesquite, Nevada.

Paddock took his own life as officers reached him on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where he opened fire with automatic weapons on the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival across the street.

Officials have not released a clear indication of a motive for the killings.

FBI Investigators have been combing over Paddock’s records searching for a criminal history or possible ties to international terrorism.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said over 400 people were sent to the hospital.

Lombardo stated that he did not know the “belief system” of Paddock, who he called a lone wolf.

According to ABC, Paddock worked as an accountant, and public records indicated he had both a pilot’s and hunting license.

Police said Stephen Paddock used multiple rifles to open fire on his victims from the hotel, where he had been staying since Thursday.

Officers discovered at least ten assault rifles in his hotel room.

Lombardo said among the victims killed in the massacre included an off-duty Las Vegas Police officer.

Police also sent out alerts looking for a “companion” of Paddock, 62-year-old Marilou Danley, as a person of interest but was not immediately clear what the relationship between Danley and Paddock was, though Lombardo said that she could be a “roommate.”

However, police called off the search for Danley, who was out of the country, after investigators determined that she was not part of the attack.
