U.S. Border Patrol agents arrest ten people carrying 400 pounds of marijuana in the Arizona desert

U.S. Border Patrol officers in Arizona busted arrested ten people in the U.S. illegally smuggling over 400 pounds of marijuana.

Officials said agents working at the Wellton Station in the Yuma Sector made the bust on Tuesday night in the desert west of Gila Bend.

The marijuana bust, which had an estimated street value worth more than $208,000.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release, agents caught up with the group drug smugglers carrying makeshift backpacks of marijuana after following footprints leading north from the Mexican border.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents seized the marijuana and arrested the individuals, who were subsequently processed for narcotics smuggling.

Officials haven’t released the names and nationalities of the drug smugglers.
