$1.5M worth of heroin seized in Walmart parking lot

A significant drug bust that took place on Wednesday in Rockdale County, Georgia, removed over 10 pounds of heroin off the streets.

Detectives said undercover deputies with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office persuaded the sellers to meet them in the parking lot of a Walmart to make a deal.

According to WSBTV, investigators seized close 5 kilos of heroin, with an estimated street value of over $1.5 million.

Luis Ramirez-Jaramillo and Marco Valdez were taken into custody during the bust. Both men are facing heroin trafficking charges.

After the arrests, deputies went to a residence in Conyers where, they said, they seized a significant undisclosed amount of drug cash.

The bust was carried out by a new Sheriff’s Office Surge Team, which hopes to send a message to drug dealers.

“We’re not going to let it be a problem. We’re going to make sure people understand this isn’t the place to do crimes,” Michael Myers, with the Sheriff’s Office, said.
