Mexican authorities captured Victor Manuel Félix Beltrán, a top heroin trafficker, considered one of the heirs to the Sinaloa Cartel criminal empire during an operation near Mexico City.

Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (PGR) along with The Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) on Thursday announced the arrest of Manuel Félix Beltrán also known as “El Vic” identified as the top financial operator for Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, the sons of imprisoned kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Félix Beltrán was arrested by federal agents at an apartment complex in Santa Fe on Wednesday evening.

Officials said Victor Manuel Félix Beltrán is the subject of an extradition warrant to the United States, where he faces a heroin trafficking and money laundering indictment filed in the Northern District of Illinois.

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Félix Beltrán as a designated drug trafficker under the so-called Kingpin Act back in 2015.

U.S. and Mexican authorities say Félix Beltrán was responsible for organizing mass shipments of heroin to the U.S. and laundered drug proceeds through various businesses and real estate deals in Culiacán, Zapopan, and Mexico City.

He also maintained close working ties and communications with other with criminal organizations responsible for the production and transfer of narcotics in the states of Guerrero and Jalisco.

According to Mexico’s Excelsior, the 30-year-old native of Sinaloa is identified as the successor of his father Victor Manuel Felix, aka “The Lord”, a top Sinaloa Cartel financier and close confidant “El Chapo,” whose daughter is also married to one of Guzman’s son.

The elder Manuel Félix was arrested on March 18, 2011, and he remains imprisoned at the Altiplano Maximum Security facility located west of Mexico City.

More notably, Mexican officials said Victor Manuel Félix Beltrán was with the sons of Guzman when they were kidnapped by purported members of the hyper-violent Jalisco New Generation Cartel from a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, back in 2016.
