Authorities in El Salvador indicated that the country’s navy had confiscated close to 1.7 metric tons of cocaine from a semi-submersible boat off the El Salvador’s Pacific coast.

Footage of the seizure revealed that the boat had a sealed deck and a small, sub-like bridge that reached above the water, the Associated Press reported.

On Thursday, the prosecutors’ office stated that the drugs had an estimated street value of $42 million.

Three crew members from Colombia and one Guatemalan man were arrested on the boat.

Such boats are produced to maintain a low visual and radar profile to evade detection. It was the first craft seized by El Salvadoran officials.
