U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents confiscated 8 pounds of cocaine on Friday at the Presidio Port of Entry in Texas.

According to a CBP press release, the drugs were reportedly concealed beneath the center console of a Chevy pickup truck.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said the drugs were discovered after a K-9 officer signaled to the presence of drugs.

The driver, a 40-year-old Mexican citizen, was taken into custody and turned over to Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents to face charges for the smuggling attempt.

“The tools and resources that we provide our officers to complete their inspections and perform their duties are everyday essentials. Narcotic detector dogs receive daily training to maintain high proficiency, and the Z-Portal x-ray machine provides greater visual detail,” Presidio Port Director Michael Neipert said in a statement.
