Former NFL player Anthony Darnel McClanahan accused of murdering his wife

A former NFL player has been identified as a suspect in the slaying of his wife in Park City, Utah last week.

Anthony Darnel McClanahan, 46, is a suspect in the killing of his wife, 28-year-old Keri “KC” McClanahan, of Arizona, the Summit County Attorney’s Office revealed.

According to a press release last Friday, Keri McClanahan was killed from “knife wounds to her throat” at the Park Regency condominiums. The two had gotten married in January.

Anthony McClanahan was originally named as a suspect in court records filed Friday in Third District Court, Fox13 reported.

Those documents discuss with a separate charge of kidnapping a child after Anthony McClanahan was accused of taking his son from school and declining to release him to the boy’s mother.

McClanahan went to Salt Lake City where he was arrested on October 12th and the boy was brought to Arizona. He posted bail one week later.

Now, according to the court documents filed on Friday, Anthony McClanahan “has been detained by police and is a suspect in a homicide involving domestic violence.”

Police arrived at the Park Regency at roughly 1:30 a.m. Thursday and discovered a woman dead inside a room. At the time, authorities said the woman’s husband was being interviewed.

In the court filing, the Utah Attorney General’s office requested a no-bail warrant against Anthony McClanahan. The attorney general said he “now poses a flight risk, as he has no ties to the State of Utah, has criminal charges pending in Arizona and Utah involving Domestic Violence, and has a willingness to be a fugitive from justice.”

ESPN reported that Anthony McClanahan went to Washington State. He joined the Dallas Cowboys but was cut in 1994 before the season. He played with the Calgary Stampeders and then signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
