Border patrol agents took an 18-year-old U.S. citizen into custody after discovering more than 50 pounds of meth worth over $150,000.

Last week, border patrol agents at an immigration checkpoint on I-19 near Amado referred the driver of a Toyota for secondary inspection after a K9 signaled to the presence of drugs. Agents recovered 40 packages of meth worth over $150,000 concealed throughout the vehicle, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release.

The 18-year-old driver was arrested for drug smuggling.

Border patrol agents also confiscated the drugs and car, which were turned over to the DEA for processing.
