A judge in Philadelphia has sentenced rapper Meek Mill to two to four years behind bars for breaking probation in a nearly 10-year-old gun and drug case.

When Common Pleas Judge Genese Brinkley sentenced the 30-year-old rapper on Monday, she referred to a failed drug test and failing to comply with a court order which restricted his travel, Billboard reported.

The sentence came as a shock after prosecutors suggested that Meek Mill not be sent to jail for the violating his probation, noting that he’s been off drugs since January and has abided by most of the probation requirements.

However, Brinkley contended that she’s been trying to help Mill for roughly ten years and that he just does whatever he wants.

Mill’s attorney has vowed to file an appeal.
