The Detroit Police Department has launched an internal probe after cops from two of its precincts traded blows during an undercover drug operation that went awry.

The officers in question were working the undercover drug operation in Andover, located on Detroit’s east side, acting as drug dealers to deceive customers.

Two special ops officers from the 12th Precinct were posing as drug dealers when two other officers from the 11th Precinct arrived.

The 11th Precinct cops ordered the other officers to get down on the ground, believing they had captured two drug dealers.

The two sets of officers then began fighting each other, trading punches and even drawing their firearms.

One officer was treated at a local hospital.

“You have to have communication,” a resident told WJBK. “I don’t understand what happened – communicate.”

Meanwhile, other officers from the 12th Precinct came to the scene and raided a nearby drug house.

Both officers involved are now under investigation.
