Pennsylvania authorities say a 69-year-old woman who died early this month seems to have come into contact with a lethal substance while cleaning up her son’s drug paraphernalia following his drug overdose.

Theresa Plummer died last week, just one day after she discovered her son, Ronald Plummer, unconscious in the bathroom.

Plummer grew short of breath after cleaning up her son’s drugs and was raced to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, which is where her son was rushed just the day before.

He died the day after his mother’s passing, WPXI reported.

“This is a caution for safety for anyone coming into contact with any powder substance,” Jeff Lees, the Cambria County coroner, said.

“You should use extreme caution and notify authorities. My advice to any family that may have this happen to them is to call law enforcement or EMS services to come back and remove the substance or material left behind,” Lees added.

Lees said his office is awaiting toxicology reports for both Plummer and Ronald.
