A married teacher was taken into custody in Oklahoma on Wednesday after allegations surfaced that she was engaging in a sexual relationship with a student.

Hunter Day, a 22-year-old science teacher at Yukon High School, was arrested on charges of second-degree rape, promoting sexual contact with a minor, and possessing child porn. She is allegedly married to the coach of the school’s football team.

Officials said they investigated the relationship after being informed by the boy’s parents and discovering explicit pictures and messages on his phone, KWTV reported.

On the day the woman was arrested, the sheriff’s department indicated that Day and the teen had planned to go to her house. Deputies came to the residence and texted the woman from the boy’s phone saying he was outside. Day responded saying that the door was unlocked.

When authorities entered the residence, Day was sitting on the floor with candles lit and the lights off, authorities said.

The teacher admitted to sending the student “bra and panty” pictures and said he’d also texted her pictures of his genitals.

“I’m no longer surprised by people who commit these crimes, predators come from all walks of life,” Canadian County Sheriff Chris West said.

According to a statement posted on Twitter, school officials said “the safety and well-being of students is our number one priority,” and there was no evidence in Day’s record that she would make such a “poor decision.”

The school said it was cooperating with police in their probe and couldn’t reveal details of the case.

Day was booked into the Canadian County Jail on a bond of $85,000.
