Police arrest boyfriend of missing Illinois bartender found shot to death

Police have arrested the boyfriend of an Illinois woman who went missing after she leaving bartending job and later discovered dead, authorities announced on Thursday.

Investigators arrested 32-year-old Jeremy Boshears, 32, of Coal City, Illinois, on charges of concealing a homicide.

Bond was set at $250,000.

The remains of 24-year-old Kaitlyn Kearns were recovered in back of her vehicle in a rural area of neighboring Kankakee County, ABC7 reported.

She suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

“Detectives believe that there is no threat to the community and that Kaitlyn was the intended target,” the sheriff’s office said after discovering the victim’s remains.

Kearns was last seen leaving the bar where she was working at roughly 1:30 a.m. Monday and driving east in her Jeep Grand Cherokee. The sheriff’s office said her father reported her missing at just before 3 pm the following day.

The victim recently met Boshears while working at Woody’s Bar and the pair were dating for two weeks.

Official murder charges are expected t be filed over the weekend.

Kevin Kearns, the victim’s father spoke for the first time since his daughter was found dead and was hopeful for swift justice for his daughter.

“I have a lot of confidence in the investigator that’s on case right now,” Kearns said. “She was a wonderful, wonderful girl, something like this should have never happened to her.”
