A Kansas man will spend two years in a federal lockup after he tried to purchase an explosive on the Dark Web.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed in a press release that 19-year-old Carlos Fransisco Martin entered a guilty plea earlier this year to one count of attempting to buy an explosive with the intent to destroy property.

Authorities learned that Martin was trying to buy the explosive anonymously through a dark website using bitcoin.

They also found that he had bought roughly $4,000 in illicit drugs, including MDMA, also known as ecstasy, through the same site. In his plea, Martin confessed that he tried to purchase the explosive to intimidate a rival drug dealer.
