Black Friday kicks off with reports of brawls and gunfire

The fighting holiday spirit has officially arrived with reports of disturbances, brawls, and even gunfire breaking out at malls across the U.S. for Black Friday.

Shoppers hunting for deals at a mall in Hoover, Alabama instead ended up with black eyes after a wild melee erupted, according to local reports.

Cell phone footage captured the brawl at the Riverchase Galleria, which shows police and firefighters breaking up a pair women trading haymakers on the floor about 11 p.m. Thursday, AL.com reported.

One victim was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries, but no one was had to be taken to a hospital.

Authorities said reports gunfire that spread on social media, were unconfirmed and no one was reported injured.

Police refused to confirm reports of several arrests resulting from the chaos.

The mall, which opened at 6 p.m. Thursday was forced to close early due to the commotion.

Meanwhile in Missouri, police responding to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a Columbia Mall, confirmed that a 19-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to ABC 17 News, the incident took place in a car about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities have so far refused to say whether the incident was accidential or deliberate.

Officials said investigators were still interviewing witnesses as of 1:30 a.m. Friday.
