U.S. Postal worker killed on the job, suspect remains at-large

A United States female postal worker was gunned down on the job near Atlanta on Monday.

The shooting occurred in Decatur, Georgia,  located 11 miles east of Atlanta.

U.S. Postal Service spokesman Rick Badie said the Postal worker was killed outside the post office at the intersection of Wesley Chapel and Snapfinger Road just before her shift ended Monday night.

Authorities said a witness saw the suspected gunman sitting in a laundry mat just before approaching the postal worker in the dock area and opening fire.

The unidentified woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later died, WSB-TV reported.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, police investigators and postal inspectors were investigating the shooting.

Law enforcement officials said a manhunt is underway for the gunman but released no further details pending the investigation.
