A Belgian pilot has been arrested after he confessed to dropping cocaine, worth an estimated value $3.3 million USD, into a field in the United Kingdon.

According to UK’s Metro Newspaper, 65-year-old Belgian native Rudi Sels confessed to conspiring to import cocaine after the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) worked with other bureaus to extradite him back to England to stand trial.

The court was informed that Sels flew a light aircraft from Brustem Airfield in Belgium to Le Touquet, near Calais in France, in June 2016.

However, investigators on the ground in the UK that day noticed the plane flying over a field in Kent and later discovered over 32 kilos of cocaine in a Land Rover which had been parked at the scene.

Three men – two of whom were pulled over with the Land Rover – were sentenced to between 10 and 16 years after confessing to their roles in the conspiracy in January.

Sels was given 14 years in prison.
