A Mexican drug cartel has circulated an ISIS-inspired video of hitmen interrogating the brother of a rival drug boss before viciously beheading the man with a butcher’s knife.

Posting sickening beheading videos has become a trademark of the cartels operating in Mexico.

The latest clip shows a young man bound sitting upright and speaking into the camera as he’s interrogated by members of the Los Viagras drug cartel in the strife-ridden western state of Michoacan.

The man is seen “confessing his sins” before he is ruthlessly beheaded by cartel thugs.

The young man executed (pictured) is the reported brother of a jailed cartel boss

Los Viagras shared the disturbing footage with a threatening warning to the hyper-violent Jalisco New Generation Cartel or CJNG.

“Featherless chickens, If you want to interfere here you will end up like this [victim]. This plaza (drug trafficking zone) has an owner. Michoacán is ours,” the message read in part.

Reports indicate the man in the video is a rival gunman and brother of Juan Carlos Márquez Pérez alias “El Duende” an imprisoned regional boss of the CJNG in Michoacan.

Mexican authorities arrested “El Duende” in September 2015.

At the time of his capture, Márquez was considered a top lieutenant of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias ‘El Mencho,’ leader of the CJNG and Mexico’s most feared drug lord.

The man beheaded is the brother of Juan Carlos Márquez Pérez, also known as ‘El Duende’ or ‘El Tecolote,’ the CJNG chief who was captured in September 2015.

The two groups remain at war for control of drug production areas and transportation routes in Michoacan.

The state is considered a central hub for the production of Methamphetamine and poppy cultivation.

Professor Gustavo Fondevila, who specialized on organized crime at Mexico City’s Center for Economic Research and Teaching, said such beheadings are part of a “method of conquest” to control the black market in the geographic region.

“Beheading captured members of a rival cartel has a direct effect on the [black] market,”  Fondevila says. “The rationale of the beheadings, abuse, and torture, is to persuade the other [cartel] to leave a place, give up, or surrender without using weapons. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to win and take the market.”

However, national security expert and author of the book Narcoterrorism and Impunity in the Americas, Robert Bunker said the decapitation murder could be an indication that Los Viagras is losing the struggle against the CJNG.

“This execution video is definitely out of character for the Viagras and appears to be an escalation,” Bunker told the Daily Beast.

“A safe guess would be that their fight with CJNG may not be going well and they see the need to ‘ramp up the terror’ against that group in order to better protect their territories and illicit interests,” Bunker added.
