Border Patrol agents arrest inmate who escaped from Mexican prison

U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona arrested a fugitive inmate who had escaped from a Mexican prison.

Border Patrol officials say 39-year-old Larry Palomarez-Chavez from Sonora, Mexico — was arrested on Friday and subsequently handed over to Mexican authorities.

Agents patrolling east of Douglas encountered a group of six Mexican nationals who were suspected of entering the country illegally. During a records check, agents found that Palomarez had a criminal history in Mexico and an active warrant for his arrest for escaping in November.

According to the Arizona Daily Independent, Palomarez-Chavez was detained on immigration violations and turned over to Mexican authorities in Nogales.

The fiver other Mexican national arrested with Palomarez were processed for immigration violations.
