Report: Ex-wife of slain NBA player Lorenzen Wright arrested in connection with his death

Authorities have charged the ex-wife of Lorenzen Wright in connection with former NBA player’s previously unsolved murder.

According to the Memphis Commercial-Appeal, police detained Wright’s ex-wife, Sherra Wright-Robinson on Friday in California.

The badly decomposed, bullet-riddled remains of Lorenzen Wright was found several days after death in 2010.

The homicide went unsolved for years until December 5th, when police arrested 46-year-old Memphis deacon Billy Turner, on first-degree murder charges.

Wright-Robinson attended the same Memphis church where Turner was a Deacon.

The high-profile case had gone cold with investigators unable to nail down any solid leads.

However, police caught a break in November after officers discovered a gun believed to be involved in Wright’s murder.

Turner was arrested shortly after discovering the weapon.

Police said Turner has a lengthy rap sheet that dates back to 1990s that includes arrests for attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, theft, attempted aggravated assault, cocaine possession, and burglary.

Early in the investigation, Wright-Robinson told the Commercial-Appeal that she was not a suspect and sources said a search of her home following the murder failed to produce enough evidence to charge her.

“They was like, no, you know. It was just kind of a person of interest. (Police) said that the list was long and wide and they didn’t have any real suspects,” Wright-Robinson said at the time.

The couple had divorced months before Wright’s murder.

The former member of the Cleveland Cavaliers was last seen leaving the home of his ex-wife on July 19th, 2010.

Law enforcement officials haven’t revealed what involvement or motive Wright-Robinson had in her ex-husband’s death or what charges she faces.

However, in an interview with Fox13, Lorenzen Wright’s mother, Deborah Marion said police told her Sherra Wright would face murder charges.

Marion also said she believed her former daughter-in-law was driven by a million-dollar insurance policy, which she inherited following her son’s death.
