Jeffrey Willis facing life in prison for shooting death of Michigan jogger

A man convicted in the shooting death of a woman as she jogged in western Michigan faces the rest of his life in prison when he is sentenced on Monday.

Jeffrey Willis will appear in Muskegon County Monday morning. He was found guilty of killing Rebekah Bletsch, WZZM reported.

He is also accused in the 2013 disappearance gas station clerk Jessica Heeringa in the Muskegon area.

Willis was arrested in 2016 after a teenager told police he tried to kidnap her.

The arrest prompted the investigations of the 2014 Bletsch homicide and the Herringa’s disappearance.

Investigators found a gun, chains, handcuffs, rope, and syringes inside Willis’ van.

Police eventually traced the gun later Bletsch’s death.

Although Willis denied having any role in Bletsch’s slaying, a jury quickly found him guilty in November.

Willis is scheduled to stand trial in Heeringa’s disappearance.
