Oldest son of Sarah Palin arrested for assaulting father

Track Palin, the Army veteran son of former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin, was arrested on charges of burglary and assault charges.

The 28-year-old was arraigned on Sunday after he was arrested in Wasilla, where his mother was the mayor before running with Senator John McCain during the presidential election in 2008.

Palin is also facing a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge for causing almost $1,000 in property damage following a domestic violence incident, NBC News reported.

According to an arrest affidavit, Palin’s husband Todd Palin, who was bleeding from cuts on his head told cops a dispute erupted when Track Palin called wanting to borrow his truck.

Todd Palin said he refused and told his son to stay away from the home. He then retrieved his pistol “to protect his family.”

Track Palin told officers he tried to enter the front door of the home but it did not open. Track Palin then proceeded to break a window to disarm his father, the affidavit states.

The oldest son of the former Alaska Governor told officers he had consumed “a few beers.”

John Tiemessen, an attorney for the Palin family, refused to comment on the incident.

“Given the nature of actions addressed by law enforcement and the charges involved, the Palins are unable to comment further,” Tiemessen announced in a statement.

“They ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this situation just as others dealing with a struggling family member would request.”

Palin remains in custody at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility in Palmer.

Palin was arrested in January after a domestic violence dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Jordan Loewe. He drunkenly punched and kicked her before he threatened to kill himself.

An officer discovered Loewe hiding under a bed after she called 911.

Assault and interfering with a police report charges were dropped, but Palin entered a guilty plea for brandishing a weapon.

Palin’s mom said the arrest stemmed from post-traumatic stress disorder due to his time in the military.
