San Diego Border Patrol agents took a 35-year-old woman into custody suspected of smuggling over $500,000 in currency from illegal drug transactions.

The arrest took place at roughly 5 p.m. Wednesday on near Oceanside. A search of the woman’ Jeep Cherokee unveiled a suitcase packed with $532,596 in currency, according to the Times of San Diego.

“This cash seizure denies transnational organizations of illicit proceeds used to run criminal enterprises,” Thomas Blanks, the patrol agent in charge of the San Clemente Border Patrol Station, said.

The woman was turned over to Homeland Security agents. Border Patrol officials confiscated the vehicle and currency.
