Woman and two babies killed in potential domestic violence incident in Phoenix, Arizona

A mother and two young children were shot to death on Christmas Day at a Phoenix apartment complex in what Police are calling a potential domestic violence incident.

Fox10 Arizona reported the suspect had barricaded himself inside one of the apartments and after several hours opened fire at police officers.

Officials said authorities managed to secure the area and arrest suspect after a brief exchange of fire.

Police found a woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds outside the unit. Officers entered the apartment and discovered the bodies of two children ages 11 and 10 months old.

One officer was injured in the shootout was rushed to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The suspect was shot during the gunfire exchange with police.

“I can’t believe it’s Christmas and there’s a shooting or whatever’s going on. It’s eerie. I feel bad for whoever is going through this,” Kristen Alexander, who had just arrived home from a trip to Ohio, told AZFamily.com.

“We’re just trying to go home and open presents,” she said. “But we can’t get in there yet.”

Residents told the Republic the alleged shooter lived in a three-story unit.

“It’s beyond crazy, It’s as sh–ty as it can get on Christmas Day.”
