Sacramento County soccer coach charged with human trafficking of two teens

Police in Sacramento County, California arrested a high school youth soccer coach on charges of human trafficking and pimping of a minor involving two teenagers.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that a 17-year-old girl called authorities around 3 a.m. Christmas Day and claimed she’d been sexually assaulted and was being forced into human trafficking.

A sheriff’s spokesman said the girl told police she was hiding in the backyard of a south Sacramento County home while her assailant waited for her nearby, ABC10 reported..

Law enforcement officials said deputies responded to the scene and discovered 34-year-old Elan Daniel Seagraves of Sacramento in a car with another 17-year-old girl.

Deputies arrested Seagraves, who has since been charged with pandering of a minor and persuading a minor to engage in commercial sex.

Investigators later revealed that Seagraves is a youth soccer coach at Kennedy High School in Sacramento County who previously worked as a coach and referee in various local youth soccer leagues.

A public defender was appointed to represent Seagraves, but the attorney hasn’t responded to phone calls requesting comment on the charges.

Seagraves remains in custody in lieu of a $2 million bond.

A judge has scheduled a bail review hearing for Jan. 4.
