Authorities in South Carolina got more than they bargained for when a man who was taken into custody for shoplifting had over 3,000 doses of heroin, other drugs, a firearm, and human teeth in his possession.

On Christmas Eve, 21-year-old Tavon Malik Stanley was arrested on after Walmart employees stopped him for a shoplifting incident.

When police arrived at the Walmart in North Myrtle Beach, staff told them they had two people detained and that Stanley smelled like weed.

The employee said that they saw 18-year-old Ashley Smith, who was with Stanley, try to shoplift roughly $25 worth of goods.

When officers searched Stanley’s bag, they discovered $2,520 in cash and a handgun that may have been stolen, according to the Myrtle Beach Online.

They also found 3,190 doses of heroin, along with two human teeth.

He has been charged with heroin trafficking, four counts of possessing scheduled drugs, illegal possession of a pistol and possession of marijuana.

The man was released on a $51,500 bond on Tuesday.

Smith has been charged with shoplifting and was released on Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for the North Myrtle Beach Police said the teeth in Stanley’s bag were his.

“He provided NMB Public Safety with paperwork showing that they were extracted by a professional,” Pat Dowling said in a statement.
