Miami teacher Valeria Costadoni charged with sexual relationship with student

Florida Police arrested a language arts teacher after she reportedly spent the last two years engaging in a sexual relationship with a teen student — both at their homes and at school.

Valeria Costadoni, the director of the language arts department at Miami Arts Charter School, allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student on four occasions at her home, according to WPLG.

The student told police investigators that his relationship with the 30-year-old educator — which involved Costadoni performing oral sex on the teen on “many occasions” inside of a classroom — was consensual.

Reports indicate the teacher and student engaged in sexual intercourse in Costadoni’s vehicle and at the student’s residence.

Valeria Costadoni, a teacher at Miami Arts Charter School, was charged Monday after a student told police the two had a “consensual” sexual relationship

Authorities had known about accusations against Costadoni in October. It is not apparent why she wasn’t taken into custody until Monday.

The woman was charged with having sex with a minor and for engaging in lewd and lascivious battery on a child younger than 16.

Police officials said the teacher refused to speak with investigators without having an attorney present.

Costadoni was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and posted $15,000 bond.

Parents at the school expressed their disgust to Local 10 News upon hearing of the news of the arrest.

“I don’t care if it’s consensual. It’s a child, I’m sorry. It doesn’t matter. No. A child is a child, no matter what,” one mother told the news station.
