Cartel-related terror quickly spread after in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas after the Gulf Cartel left a human head inside a Walmart shopping cart.

The finding was made at the time when hundreds of families were at the populated shopping center in the city of Ciudad Victoria, which the capital of the border state.

According to El Manana, the head was reportedly placed inside a shopping cart with cartel message.

Security officers at the shopping center were first informed of the discovery after terrified customers stumbled upon the macabre scene. Authorities with the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office sealed off the area to gather the remains.

Preliminary information indicated that the head belonged to an unidentified man who is alleged to be between 35 and 40 years old. The victim was dark skinned, had a mustache, and along with bushy, dark hair.

The head was on top of a green fluorescent poster with the message that stated: “Greetings from the Gulf Cartel CDG, you will suck CDN, we are here.”

Officials have not yet recovered the remaining body parts.

The discovery cast terror among the locals who have spent months living as quiet witnesses to the fierce battle between rival cartels for control of the area.

The Old School Zetas (Vieja Escuela Zeta) and their allies with the CDG have been engaged in a violent war against a splinter of Los Zetas known as Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) since 2014.

The violence began the two groups after members of the Old School Zetas believed that the now-jailed Miguel Angel “Z40” Treviño Morales and his relatives betrayed other Zeta bosses, such as founder Heriberto “Z3” or “El Lazca.”
